ABILENE, Texas -

This morning we are tracking another cold front into West Texas. This will usher in some much cooler air for our Monday afternoon. Around sunrise the cold front will be entering the northwest Big Country and then moving southward through our viewing area into the noon hour.

We may see an increase in a bit of cloud cover with the passage of the front, but minimal moisture in place looks to preclude any shower development across West Central Texas.

High temperatures on Monday afternoon will be well below normal in the lower 60s. As the front passes through the region, winds will turn northerly at 15-20 with gusts potentially up to 30 mph.

Tonight mostly clear skies will allow readings to drop to around 40 degrees by early Tuesday morning.

The mid-week period looks to provide very tranquil weather conditions as high pressure takes control over the area. Plentiful sunshine is expected Tuesday right on through Friday with rain chances looking pretty minimal at the current time. Highs on Tuesday will be at or just above the 70 degree mark. Warming increases for Wednesday as southerly winds return pushing the mercury into the middle 70s.

A cold front may arrive for Thursday and Friday dropping temperatures back closer to 70 degrees. Partly cloudy skies are expected.

The next chance of rain showers appears to be later Friday night and into Saturday. This is not shaping up to be a major weather maker for West Central Texas. Nevertheless, some scattered activity does look possible for the first half of the weekend. Sunday looks dry. Highs will be around 70 to the lower 70s.
