ABILENE, Texas -

Showers and storms will develop throughout the day Friday and stay with us into the start of the weekend.

We're tracking a disturbance that will move north across west Texas Friday, bringing about an increase in cloud cover and rain chances. The cloudier skies will help moderate afternoon temps with highs in the upper 80s and low 90s. The threat for severe weather is low but some could see locally heavy rainfall so flash flooding may become an issue.

Tonight the rain chances continue with scattered showers and storms likely. Temperatures will cool down to around 70 degrees. Scattered showers will continue through the start of the weekend as the disturbance moves through the region. Rain chances will end through the evening on Saturday with temps cooling to around 70, once again.

Partly cloudy skies will prevail on Sunday with highs in the mid 90s. Overnight we'll cool to the low 70s.

We're tracking our next round of rain chances for Monday afternoon as a cold front stalls across the Big Country. The front won't lower temps much so highs will still make it into the mid to upper 90s.

Overnight the showers and storms continue with temps in the low 70s. Look for another round of showers Tuesday with the heaviest rain over the northern Big Country. Highs will warm to around 94 degrees.

Slight rain chances carry over into the Wednesday with morning temps in the low 70s. By the afternoon we'll see highs around 96 as the skies clear. For Thursday, we're tracking temps in the mid 90s under mostly clear skies.
