Anthony Domol: Tracking much warmer Monday

What a rainfall! Many areas around Abilene saw a couple inches of water on Saturday morning into the early afternoon hours. On Sunday we saw a beautiful day with lots of sunshine and a below normal high temperature of 79 degrees.
The below normal temperatures will not last for long. Today we expect readings to warm strongly into the mid and even upper 80s for some spots. Sunny skies are in the forecast and winds will be light from the south at 5-10 mph.
Tonight we expect mostly clear conditions to be in control with overnight lows in the lower 60s.
The Tuesday weather pattern looks continued warm and dry with temperatures getting back into the upper 80s and near 90 degrees. No rainfall is in the Tuesday forecast.
Wednesday and Thursday will see a good deal of sunshine with readings once again pushing to above normal levels near 90 degrees. Southerly flow will get a bit more moisture involved into the atmosphere but no precipitation is expected through Thursday.
It will be on Friday when we start to see some important weather changes make their mark on the area. A strong cold front will make its way southward into Texas bringing with it a 20% chance for showers and thundershowers in the afternoon and evening hours. This does not look to be as substantial a rainfall as this past weekend's deluge however. We will track it in the days ahead. The more noticeable change will be markedly cooler temperatures. In the wake of the front, readings will be held in the middle and upper 70s for this coming weekend.
