ABILENE, Texas -

We'll see lots of hot weather and sunny skies for the first full weekend of summer.

Highs Friday will warm into the mid 90s with a breezy south wind at 15 to 20 mph. The sunny skies this afternoon will give way to clear skies this evening. Look for a pleasantly warm night with temps cooling down into the low 70s.

For the weekend ahead, our hot and dry pattern continues. We'll see plenty of sunshine with highs warming into the mid 90s Saturday and Sunday. Lows at night will cool to around 73 degrees.

The dryline is currently situated over eastern New Mexico. For the next few afternoons it will be the focal point for shower and storm activity but any of the storms will likely fizzle out before they make it to the Big Country.

As we head into next week, we'll see our dry pattern continuing. The ridge of high pressure that's keeping our rain chances out will stay in place.

That means through the middle of next week, our sunny skies continue. Afternoon highs will stay in mid 90s but begin warming into the upper 90s by Wednesday. Temperatures overnight will cool into the low 70s.
