ABILENE, Texas -

Tuesday we saw some late morning / early afternoon heavy rain down in McCulloch, Coleman, and Brown counties. Lighter showers made their way into the Abilene area. Unfortunately, the rainfall was short-lived locally and the tallies were not earth-shattering.

From our six reporting fire stations based here in Abilene we saw rain amounts ranging from 0.02 in. to 0.11 in. Officially at Abilene Regional Airport 0.09 in. was received.

The most notable totals were to our south and east. A location near Cross Plains saw 0.19 in. of water. Just north of Coleman we received a report of 0.75 in. Several miles outside of Brownwood a final tally of .96 in was recorded. Brady checked in with 1.49 in.

Areas out to the west like Sweetwater and Snyder did not record measurable rainfall. Colorado City was one of the few western locations that reported measurable precipitation. 0.2 in. was recorded there.

The 7-day forecast looks hot and dry. At the moment, rain chances appear minimal going into the Labor Day weekend.
