ABILENE, Texas -

Red Flag Warnings are in effect for areas expected to reach critical fire weather conditions Tuesday afternoon, including King, Knox, Kent, Stonewall and Scurry counties in the KTXS viewing area.

These warnings go into effect for Knox and Scurry counties at 11 a.m. and run through 9 p.m. For King, Kent and Stonewall counties the warnings begin at 10 a.m. and stay valid through 8 p.m.

Winds from 20-30 mph with higher gusts coupled with extremely low relative humidity values (very dry air) will heighten the fire concerns. Any fires that develop can spread rapidly.

The rest of the West Texas -- though not included in the warnings -- still have elevated fire weather concerns on this Tuesday afternoon.
